Over the years, the VAV Gallery has showcased the work of countless students, and it continues to uphold that tradition today. The gallery has been a home for many students who have gone on to build successful careers after their studies. We invite you to explore their work and discover the many ways the VAV Gallery has shaped and presented its programming over the years.

There is a two-week turnover between exhibitions, a rhythm that has been in place since the VAV began. Alongside this ongoing exhibition schedule, the gallery also hosts several annual programs, including Traditions, our summer residency program held in July and August, the Graduating Students Exhibition in June, and our regular Fall and Winter programming.

As you browse through the archives, you'll notice that each coordinator has brought their own perspective and approach to the role. Every team finds its own footing, and these differences reflect the evolving nature of the gallery rather than inviting comparison. Balancing full-time studies while coordinating the gallery is demanding, but every team is committed to delivering exhibitions that leave a lasting impression.

Some sections are still a work in progress. We are actively reorganizing, verifying, and fact-checking the archives to ensure they are accurately preserved, so check back for updates.

Records documenting the Gallery’s activities prior to 1998–1999 are not currently available. As such, 1998–1999 represents the earliest documented period within our existing records. If you have any information regarding the Gallery’s early operational years, please feel free to reach out to vavgallery.technical@concordia.ca.

All in all,

Welcome to the VAV.
