If any life is the same, all paths are different, there are however parallel ways which meets at the end of the road. Choices we make, although infinite in theory are influenced by value systems that are not personal at all. How can we take the right decision when we are under an exterior influence? By choosing a path, the individual is making a value judgement. It then becomes extremely difficult to conciliate dreams and priorities.
This exhibition regroups a series of pieces that touches from near or far these life choices. The pieces put the the individual as the principal actor of it’s life. They become moments where the individual takes consciousness of the possible control on the situation.
The exhibition is divided in three phases : dreams and aspirations, situations of control and the result of these decisions. First part refers to the comfort, the domesticity and the youngness. The second part regroups a large spectrum of pieces shooting multiple target such as, office work, location consciousness, consummation, identity and health. The final phase evokes the impact, the consequences and the outcomes of some of the decision we’ve made.

We want to transform VAV gallery into a space which is like a camera that we would build. Inside this space the viewer can experience the process that we go through to make our images. There will be a dark room with only a pinhole illuminating in it, this sight specific pinhole camera will reveal the outside courtyard up side down and backwards. Although never being fixed to paper, people can go in and let this image slowly reveal itself to them. There will be video documentation projected to reveal the places we have turned into cameras, giving the viewer an idea of our extensive process. Throughout the gallery will be large distorted analogue pinhole black and white prints. These huge positives/negatives dominate the space with rich blacks, ranging from 4’x6’ to 5’x20’. In addition to these large prints, there will be paintings made from inside the camera utilizing the same process of under-painting and glazing as old master painters such as Vermeer and Caravaggio. Although using the same equipment, the paintings differ from the prints, in scale as well as material and approach. The show will display Huge negative and positives as well as paintings all created from being inside a large room sized camera. The aesthetic although photographic, will be much different from classic photographic space, pinholes see different lenses, and time is shown, instead of fragments of seconds our exposures are minutes to hours.
